Editorial policy and sponsor disclosure

Last updated October 15, 2026.

Geographic pages are written from public facts: town lines, census figures, public parks, and landmarks a visitor can find without a private listing. A business name is not invented to fill a blank. The sand does not need a fictional taco stand.

What gets a number

A figure lands on the page when a town, a park, or the operator published it. Dog ordinances, the 2.7-mile loop at Price Lake, and the Woolly Worm admission are that kind of figure. A lift ticket, a pier walk, and a parade that can change by Friday stay on the source. If you wanted a secret list, this is the wrong wink.

Sponsors, when they exist

No paid placement is live at launch. The directory is empty on purpose. When a sponsored listing is published, it will be labeled Sponsor, Featured, or Spotlight. It will sit in the directory and, for a town spotlight, in a marked box. It will not rewrite inlet names, trail descriptions, or other geographic facts. A logo does not move an inlet.

A founding partner does not get approval over the town guide. Category exclusivity is a limit on how many sponsors of that type the directory will carry. It is not editorial control. Advertising rates on theadvertise page are estimates for placements. They are not prices for lodging, meals, lift tickets, or park admission.

Links

Version 1 links to public agencies and town pages so a reader can recheck a fact. It doesn't link to reservation marketplaces and it doesn't take a booking fee. Your weekend is yours to book.

Corrections and a dated event

The contact form doesn't deliver mail yet. Until it does, corrections have to wait for a later version of the site. That limit is ours, not a reason to guess.

Woolly Worm Festival dates and admission were checked against woollyworm.com and the Town of Banner Elk. The festival FAQ lists $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6 to 12, and free for age 5 and under, for October 17 and 18, 2026. Glance at the festival site if you're going.
